Funny stories about my twins...

Being that I was unable to write much over the last week...I have some super funny stories to tell you about my girls.

~The other day the girls and I had just got them home from school...and they were upstairs playing.  A couple of minutes later, Em came over to the balcony of the loft just crying  "Momma..." she was saying.  I asked her what was wrong and she said... "I am gonna be the president of the United States and sissy said she is not going to vote for me."  The devastation in her voice was so sad.  I told her that I can assure her that by the time she is running for president...sissy will vote or her.  LOL  ~The daily struggles of a 6 yr old. :)

~The girls basketball season just came to an end and was so much fun!  They did great!  Living in a small town you generally know all the parents of the kids that are playing and if you went to school in this area as I did, you generally went to school with all of the parents also.  So I was sitting next to my high school friend whose son plays on the girls' team.  Her mom was sitting next to her and told me that my girls really aren't cut out for basketball...being the major basketball player that I am and have always been, I had to politely share with her that my girls are 6 yrs old and in first grade and that by the time they are in high school, she is going to wonder who those awesome basketball twins are.  LOL
I then turned around to watch the game and my girls were in the middle of the court (as the ball was on the other side) and they were hugging...I am imagining one of them must have done something good.  It was so funny...what are the odds that this was the time they chose to hug in the middle of the court after I just went to bat for them.  It kind of killed my case...but was still precious. :)  Basketball players?...I think so...but it will remain to be seen. :)

~And for those moms who think I dress my girls alike on purpose...they dress themselves alike every single day.  I asked them the other day if they like dressing alike and they both said YES and hugged each other.  I love that I am so blessed to have been chosen to have identical twins.

I will keep you up on more as it happens...but wanted to catch you up with those cute stories for today.

Have a great Monday!

First basketball game...

So the girls had their first basketball game on Saturday and it was HILARIOUS! Let's just say these girls would duck when the ball hits the rim. Having played basketball for 11 years and coached for about the same time, I have never coached this young of a team. My girls are in first grade and their team is a co-ed K-2 team.

I decided to not coach since it was my own girls...so I signed my husband up to coach and my best friend, Misty. Misty was the best female athlete in our entire school and not only received a scholarship for softball but for basketball as well. I am so excited that my girls are learning from her!

We had a couple of kids on the team that were really good! I am not sure if it was complete luck or if the 8 year old really did have a hook shot from the 3-point line that he couln't miss. But either way, it was good for our team...lol!

My girls had fun. They didn't especially like the idea that they didn't get the ball a lot so we now know what to work on with the girls. Perhaps a little dribbling, learning how to pass and how to catch passes and definitely how to rebound.

This league is a funny one...it's youth ball so you can ONLY practice with your team 30 minutes before each game...for example, if the game starts at 9:30pm, you start your practice at 9:00am. Totally crazy, I know.

This age group is just so darn funny because they literally don't know how to do ANYTHING. So they would actually take the ball and RUN...not dribble, half way down the court and shoot. I was crying I was laughing so hard.

We will have many fun stories to post throughout the next several weeks on what goes down on the basketball court.

My girls are playing basketball...

I played sports my whole life...basketball being my favorite. Tomorrow my 6 year old girls are going to start basketball!! I am not coaching them but I did sign my husband up and my best friend who was the MVP for the league every year that we played...they are the coaches.

This is a youth league so they don't even practice until 30 minutes before each game and games are only on Saturdays.

I can't wait to watch them tomorrow...I will keep you posted on how it goes. I'm so excited, I have waited my whole life for this!

Happy new year!
